Education Outreach Seminar
The First CIMES Education Seminar will be held Wednesday October 21 starting at 9:00am Hawaii-Aleutian time zone (11:00am Alaska and 3:00pm Atlantic Time zone). The speakers for the first CIMES Seminar are Dr. Nosal from University of Hawaii and Dr. Vélez-Reyes and Ms. Marin-McGee (Velez graduate student) from University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. The presentations are around 30 minutes. After a brief introduction by Dr. Colucci, Dr. Nosal will start the presentation and after brief part for questions Dr Vélez-Reyez will start the presentation with questions and the final speaker Ms. Marin-McGee.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2009, CIMES held it’s first annual Industry Day on the UH Manoa Campus. 85 participants represented a cross-section of academics, government stakeholders, and private business. Presentations by UH Investigators sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security were complimented by talks from CIMES’ DHS Program Officer, the commanding officer of the Hawaii National Guard (HNG) 93d Civil Support Team, and 4 industry representatives. The HNG also brought 2 advanced communications vehicles and their mobile Chem/Bio/Rad analytical laboratory for participants to tour during the lunch break. CIMES thanks everyone for their interest and support and is already looking forward to hosting next year’s event with more exciting presentations and stimulating conversations.
